Blog
Now is the time to try something new. I received that message in a fortune cookie once, and I kept that in my wallet for many years. Now here I am, and I’m going to start something new. (2012 has been the year of new things for me anyways.) I’m going to start blogging again.
I don’t know why I stopped blogging actually. I used to have a blog on mydemos.com which was lost when the place it was hosted when down and never came back up. But perhaps I had too many places to blog in the past, and it was hard to keep up with any of them.
But here I am. Scott Duffy. My home on the web. And it’s time to start making this place interesting.
Back in 2003, I wrote a book on JavaScript. I am still proud of it. Sold a lot of them, and it’s still for sale on Amazon.

I just flipped the switch on a new web site for DW Photography Studio. This is a site I did for a wedding photographer in Williston, North Dakota. To see the details on that, check out this post from my portfolio section.
Plans are coming together for the new year. The what’s and why’s are in place, and the how’s are becoming clearer.
I’m pretty confident at this point that Hire Scott will be the hub for it all. I’ve been searching around for domain names, and there’s not much better that says what I want to say. Maybe I’ll seek out some branding experts for some feedback. But I think I can build a brand around Hire Scott. I’m me. I am the brand. I’m the face on the front page.
If I was to invent a new company name (ABC Consulting Inc), the name would blend into the beige background of all other bland company names. I’ve always liked Hire Scott. It says exactly what I want to say.
Of course, I could dream up a more wonderful name tonight, and all this would go out the window. But the clock is ticking, and I’m pretty sure this is it.
As the year comes to a close, many business people start the planning for the next year. For too many years, I just went from year to year. And as a result, I just kept doing what I was doing. It’s now time for something completely different, as the saying goes.
Well, not completely different. It’s not like I’m going to leave web development and open a Print Three franchise.
Stay tuned to this space. It’s finally time to stop doing some things, and start doing some things. It’s time to throw some NO2 into the tank and hit the gas. It’s going to be fun!
